Music is a powerful tool to help children better understand their bodies and the space around them. When they follow the rhythm of a song or respond to its cues by moving around, they are working on important aspects like posture, orientation, and awareness of their physical abilities and limitations. Additionally, they are learning how to interact with space more accurately and with greater control.
Spatial intelligence not only helps them visualize their surroundings but also orient themselves and understand the position of their body in relation to objects and people around them.
Children's songs play a key role in this process. Almost any song that encourages movement is beneficial, but some are specifically designed to work on these skills. A great example is "Campaneta la ning ning," which you’ll find in our "Jugar i moure’s" box. In this song, a little bell is hidden behind the singer (which also helps understand presence and develop attention), but it can be adapted by hiding the bell in different parts of the space. You can even ask them to close their eyes, listen carefully to the sound, and try to find where the bell is hidden.
