This isn’t based on votes or any kind of statistics. The ones I’m sharing are simply the songs that get sung the most in our home as Christmas approaches.
As you may have noticed, none of them are included in Petit Folks’ boxes. That’s because Petit Folks avoids religious content to remain as inclusive as possible, ensuring everyone feels represented (we apply the same logic in other contexts, not just religion).
But that doesn’t mean we don’t sing them at home. And it doesn’t mean they aren’t beneficial for children. Plus, Christmas is a time when we all—kids and grown-ups alike—loosen up, sing, dance… and even express our emotions more openly. And we should embrace that!
With that said, here’s our top 3:
ENGLISH
- Jingle bells (James Lord Pierpont)
- We Wish You a Merry Christmas (traditional)
- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Johnny Marks)
SPANISH
- Mi burrito sabanero (Hugo César Blanco Manzo)
- Campana sobre campana (traditional)
- Los peces en el río (tradicional)
CATALAN
- Tió, tió (tradicional)
- Amb la llum del fanalet (Jaume Moreno)
- Els reis ja vénen (traditional)
Do you know these? You’ve probably heard a few of them around the house these days.
All that’s left is for me to wish you a holiday season full of music, joy, and smiles!
