No, they don’t play to learn
Share
Children don’t play to learn.
But they do learn because they play.
Now that school has started, doubts often creep in again:
Are they learning enough? Are they keeping up? Should we do more at home?
It’s easy to fall into that loop.
But in early childhood, learning doesn’t look like worksheets.
It looks like play, like songs, like movement, like laughter.
They don’t learn because we “teach” them.
They learn because they live, play, and feel.
When they play, they’re not just having fun:
🧠 they build connections
💡 they explore ideas
🗣️ they develop language
❤️ and most of all… they feel seen and supported
So if you're wondering how to support them right now...
relax and play with them.
Even better: sing, dance, and laugh with them.
That’s where the real learning happens.
