Learning again

The other day I was watching my son build a tower with blocks. Every time it fell, he got frustrated, but he picked up the blocks and started again. And there I was, thinking… “what if he did it like this?”. But I stayed quiet. Because what I really wanted was for him to do it my way. But he had his own way, his own rhythm, his own logic.
That little tower reminded me of something I feel every day: children don’t come into our lives so we can teach them everything. They come so that we can learn too. We learn to wait, to observe, to stop correcting so quickly and, above all, to be amazed by simple things.
Free play is a gift. When we allow them to experiment, to make mistakes, to decide… they are learning to trust themselves. And while we watch them, we remember that life doesn’t always need strict rules or perfect paths.
It’s not about doing everything “right”. It’s about being present, and letting children’s curiosity and creativity teach us something every day.
If you’d like some ideas to encourage free play at home, I’m sharing a few here.
