It’s not about entertaining. It’s about being there.

It’s not about entertaining. It’s about being there.

As parents, we sometimes feel we need to be doing something all the time.
Suggesting games.
Encouraging.
Making plans.
Keeping things moving.

But it’s not our job to entertain our children.
Our role is different.
Simpler.
And much more important.

To be available.
Truly available.

To have moments during the day —and throughout the week—
when we put the phone down,
leave the rush behind,
stop being elsewhere in our minds,
and offer them something very basic:
our full attention.

There’s no need to direct the play.
Or make it “educational.”
Or turn it into a special activity.

Sometimes it’s enough to sit nearby.
Sing with them.
Listen.
Watch them play.
Respond when they reach out.

Play doesn’t need a show.
It needs presence.

And when they know we’re there —
available, attentive, calm—
they feel safe enough to explore, imagine, and create on their own.

🎶 At Petit Folks, we truly believe in this:
in play that arises naturally,
accompanied by a voice, a song, a shared glance.

Because it’s not about doing more.
It’s about being there.
